Renting Tips

Moving into your own apartment is a big step both in life and financially. Making sure you get a good deal is very important. Don't get scammed or taken advantage of.

Most apartments require you to at least pay electricity, but there are some that require you to pay all utilities.

Looking for your new place

1. Shop around
2. Make sure you know what you want
3. Ask lots of questions
4. View the apartment more than once
5. Check for any issues
             a. Like:
                      i. Cracks in the walls
                      ii. Marks on the walls
                      iii. Test the water/appliances
                      iv. Be observant of anything that looks incomplete

Once you have found that place you wish to call home. Take care in signing any documents.

When signing your lease

1. Read it in its entirety
           a. Ask for a copy when you are interested so that you can read it over before you make you final decision
           b. At the time of signing MAKE sure it says the same
           c. Make sure you know what they charge fees on
           d. Make sure you know what you are monetarily responsible for
2. Get copies

After you have signed the lease and have gotten your keys. There are a few things that you should do before you completely move all your stuff in.

Once you have signed the lease

1. Inspect the apartment in full before you begin moving in
          a. Check windows and doors
                     i. Inform management of any problems you find
          b. Check all appliances
